IFB Sets Priorities Based on Members' Needs

Did you make a New Year's resolution? After all, a new year means new goals… that's true for Illinois Farm Bureau , too.

Each year, IFB creates a handful of goals that give the organization focus, helping staff, volunteers, and members stand united. In determining the goals, the IFB Board of Directors turns to the members of this grassroots organization. These are the top 6 priorities of 2013:

  1. Actively participate in the development of the next Farm Bill as well as federal and state tax policy, a comprehensive energy plan, infrastructure improvements, transportation issues and trade issues.
  2. Engage with consumers, lawmakers, regulators and other influencers to build trust and confidence that Illinois farmers make decisions in the public's best interest.
  3. Influence state and federal governments to create positive fiscal and business climates including job creation and the encouragement of competition in the marketplace.
  4. Advocate for a regulatory climate that is based on science and common sense and is economically feasible for agriculture and related businesses.
  5. Increase and sustain member engagement in issues having political and legislative impact.
  6. Emphasize innovative agricultural instruction and research methods.

Illinois Farm Bureau needs your help turning these priorities into successes. Take a look at some of our programs and see which ones speak to you!
