Pro-Farmer Ad Runs in Movie Theaters

School is out for Christmas.
It's too cold to play outside.
And mom is holiday stressed.
Sounds like a perfect time to take the kids to a movie!

Two of Illinois Farm Bureau's member-driven committees are using this peak movie-going time to reach the general public. Both the Northwest Regional Advertising Group and the Quad City Advertising Group are running a commercial in movie theaters in Rockford, Moline, Galesburg, and Davenport, IA. The 30-second spot invites viewers to join a conversation about farming on the website www.watchusgrow.org.

"Connecting with that audience in a distraction-free, dark theater using a 40-foot screen and surround sound is like no other medium," said IFB's Mary Ellen Fricke. "Research shows that someone shown the same ad on TV and in a cinema likes the commercial 10 times better when viewed at the movies."

With Regional Advertising Groups, Illinois Farm Bureau and county Farm Bureaus pull together funds and brainpower to develop and purchase advertising that promotes agriculture to non-farmers. If you'd like to get involved, contact your county Farm Bureau.
