Not only will you be racing for the finish line for the 5K Grow & Go, you'll be racing to sign up for early birdregistration, which is tomorrow, May 1!
Tomorrow is also the deadline to apply for the Rural Nurse Practitioner Scholarship, so if you've been working on an application, be sure to get it turned in.
Here's more details on both of these programs/events:
The 4th Annual Grow & Go is set for Saturday, May 10 at 9 a.m. The event celebrates Illinois farm families and the important role they play in putting food on your table. The 5K registration fee is $20 through May 1; after May 1, it's $25. $5 covers the kids in the Cock-a-Doodle Dash. You can also register on the day of the race.
Hosted on the grounds of the Illinois Farm Bureau, COUNTRY Financial and GROWMARK headquarters, the 5K course has a cross-country feel with well-maintained grass, pavement and even a few rolling hills. Finishing times and results will be provided by the Lake Run Club of Bloomington/Normal. Just for the kids... the Cock-a-Doodle Dash, giving those 10 years and under a chance to 'strut their stuff' and come out with a prize!
Participants will learn more about our roots in agriculture while supporting a great cause. Proceeds from this race will benefit Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom (IAITC), a program providing free resources to teachers in an effort to help students make the connection between food, fiber, fuel and farming.
After the race/walk, participants are invited to join an indoor open house featuring a hot breakfast and fun family activities. Kids will enjoy interactive learning stations led by the IAITC staff and volunteers, and runners will appreciate unique tractor awards for 1st and 2nd place finishers in 5-year age categories.
Each race participant receives a tech-shirt, water stops, professional timing, and a hot breakfast. Those interested in attending only the open house and breakfast can purchase tickets for $7.
