The lineup looks promising (and hopefully so will the weather) for opening day at the Illinois State Fair, and Illinois Farm Bureau (IFB) is ready, too!
IFB will once again host activities on the stage under the Commodities Pavilion at the Illinois State Fair. The stage will have daily activities beginning tomorrow (August 8) through next Thursday (August 14) from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
RFD Radio's Rita Frazer will serve as host and conduct interviews with various fair management personnel, 4-H winners, FFA officers, youth livestock winners, politicians, farmers, Illinoisans of the Day, and others. Rita will also broadcast RFD Today (9 a.m.) live tomorrow (August 8), Monday (August 11), and Tuesday (August 12), which is Ag Day.
When RFD Radio is not conducting interviews, Kris and John Parkhurst will provide musical entertainment.
Look for banners that support the Illinois Farm Families (IFF) in the Pavilion and throughout the fair grounds.
The IFB photo department will be on hand to take pictures of the Livestock Junior Grand Champion and Junior Reserve Grand Champion. IFB's President Guebert will present the framed photos to the winners during the Sale of Champions Tuesday night. Our photo team will also capture the Dairy winner, as well as the Master Showmanship winners.
IFB Young Leaders Agri-Quiz Bowl Contest is held in the Illinois Building Theatre on Tuesday (Ag Day), with 36 teams participating. The winners of the Young Leader Excellence in Ag Award and the Achievement Award wil be announced on stage in the Commodities Pavilion at 11:15 on that day.
Again this year, IFB is one of the sponsors of Farmer's Little Helpers Exhibit/activity. IFB has the Farmers Market station in the Exhibit.
