IAA Foundation 2017 Golf Outing Wrap Up

Great Weather, Great Friends, Even Better Results

June 8th the IAA Foundation held its 21st annual Golf Outing for IAITC. Held in Pontiac, at the Wolf Creek Golf Club and Elks Country Club, this outing continues to be great fun, a great financial success, and the largest of its kind to support agriculture. Because of our generous sponsors and event participants, the IAA Foundation raised more than $50,000 from this year’s event.

175 golfers took to the course for this scramble style event. On course games and contests kept up the friendly competition, including the addition of a hole in one competition this year—where a lucky winner could take home a new Ford F-150. Sadly, there were no hole in one shots made and the trucks made their way back to the dealership, but there was a couple of close calls.

After the day of golf, camaraderie continued with a steak dinner sponsored by COUNTRY Financial, a live auction that brought in $4,550, and numerous prizes awarded to happy golfers.

We are very thankful to the Livingston County Farm Bureau, who serves as host and supplies many great volunteers each year.  In addition, thank you to all who brought a foursome, sponsored a hole or golf cart, or helped promote this fundraising event! Our success is reliant on your involvement and support.

Money raised from this year’s outing goes directly to support the 2017- 2018 IAITC Program Budget. And halfway through our fundraising year, the IAA Foundation is well over half way to our goal of raising the $750,000 needed to meet that IAITC Program Budget. With a fully funded program year, the IAA Foundation can ensure that Ag Mags and other classroom resources are available at no charge, teachers can continue to apply for and receive book grants, or other mini-grants.

Most importantly, county Ag Literacy Coalitions will receive more than $600,000 in matching grants to keep local programs thriving.

Fun days on the golf course are great, but what’s even more impressive is the overall spirit of giving, and the importance placed on continuing to support Ag Literacy.
