Celebrating IL Farming Month in Springfield

Farming takes a front seat in Springfield today.

3.14.13.underIt's Illinois Agriculture Legislative Day in Springfield and Illinois Farm Bureau is helping our state's lawmakers celebrate farmers' commitments to the future.

As part of Illinois Farming Month, this Ag Legislative Day lets IFB show elected officials how their on-the-hill decisions help Illinois farmers grow more than food. They help grow Illinois' future, too.

This futuristic trait is ingrained in farmers and naturally leads to one of the greatest aspects of today's farming - continuous improvement. From reducing soil erosion to reducing pesticide use, farmers never stop improving how they grow and raise food, because - like all Illinois citizens - they love the results.

To make needed advancements, farmers often rely on common-sense legislation and regulations. This is the message Illinois Farm Bureau is expressing during today's Ag Roundtable. IFB will present legislative priorities that will keep the state's farming community growing.

Illinois Farm Bureau's Youth Education in Agriculture (YEA!) program will also be in full swing, as FFA students from across the state will assemble and deliver lunches and baskets of Illinois farm-grown products to legislators.

The Farm Bureaus of Illinois invite everyone in Springfield - and across the state -  to join the Illinois Farming Month celebration by taking a peek into the improvements farmers are making every day. Check out the videos at www.watchusgrow.org and see how Illinois farmers grow more than our food… they grow our future!
