IFB Celebrates Membership Achievements

The Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting is the epitome of the grassroots power that comes from its 420,505 members - 83,291 of them farming members. That's why this year's Annual Meeting was a great place to celebrate the 152 volunteers who asked their neighbors to join Farm Bureau last year.

More than 400 new farmers joined last year. David Heller from JoDaviess County signed 17 of them, making him the top membership recruiter in the state. Before the entire delegation, IFB President Philip Nelson thanked Heller for his hard work and gave him a $500 prize.

Anyone who signed three new farmers this year was entered into a drawing. Five lucky winners walked home with an extra $100 in their pockets:

  • Tammy Halterman, Grundy County Farm Bureau
  • James Gilliland, Marion County Farm Bureau
  • Mark Pflugmacher, Champaign County Farm Bureau
  • Dan Mitchell, LaSalle County Farm Bureau
  • Dennis Verbeck, Henry County Farm Bureau

David Sadler, President of Vermilion County Farm Bureau, also took the stage and accepted a plaque as the county Farm Bureau that signed the most new farming members. Joining Sadler, Lawrence Schilling, President of Hamilton County Farm Bureau, received a plaque for the work his county Farm Bureau has done to reach the highest number of new overall members in the state.

Illinois Farm Bureau thanks everyone who signed new members last year and encourages you join the effort next year.
