Winner of Illinois Certified Crop Adviser of the Year Announced

Mike Wilson, a crop adviser with Wabash Valley Service Company, was named the 2011 Illinois Certified Crop Adviser of the Year. The announcement came at the Illinois Farm Bureau (IFB) Annual Meeting, held December 3-6, at the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago.

Wilson has 32 years of crop consulting experience, with 17 of them as a Certified Crop Adviser. He work has focused primarily on finding a solution to crop problems. His emphasis on good nutrient management has encouraged farmers to improve their environmental stewardship and compliance.

His leadership was also recognized in 2009 when he and the Wabash Valley Service Company Browns Plant were the recipients of the Crop Life Magazine's National Environmental Respect Award.

Wilson is an active volunteer with farm activities in Edwards and Wabash counties. He serves on the Wabash Valley College Agricultural Department Advisory Council and is an FFA mentor and record book coach.
