Action Teams: Creating Projects to Benefit Agriculture

It was a full day of discussions and laughter for more than 40 men and women attending Illinois Farm Bureau's Action Teams meeting. Four teams of members worked to turn their unique ideas and experiences into a year of activities and amazing results. While the teams spent most of their time planning and analyzing the next round of projects, they also had an opportunity to see the Action Team activities that are just around the corner:

The Quality of Life team got to see the tabletop, digital signs that promote safety on rural roads. Through a grant program, the signs will be available soon to county Farm Bureaus.

The Public Relations team saw the advertising they placed on train platforms and inside trains in Chicago. The ads tell the general public that 94% of Illinois farms are family farms.

The Membership Action Team met Clair Benjamin, IFB's new Youth Ambassador. This summer, she will carry out the team's plan to promote membership and involvement with young people.

The Education Action Team finalized their series of posters that give consumers fun and educational facts about the crops and animals that Illinois farmers raise.

Do these projects sound like something you'd like to be a part of? Applications aren't due until December, but there's no reason to wait in telling your county Farm Bureau now that you're interested.
