Farmers Network at Specialty Conference

Illinois Farm Bureau is proud to be one of the sponsors of this week's (Wednesday-Friday) Illinois Specialty Crops, Agritourism and Organic Conference in Springfield, IL. This unique conference offers workshops, general sessions, and breakout sessions that help Illinois farmers network and explore new ways to grow their farms.

The conference features more than 100 speakers and 50 tradeshow exhibitors, covering a variety of topics:

  • Agritourism
  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Herbs
  • Organic Foods
  • Emerging Issues

The conference opened yesterday with a cooking demonstration, "Foods that Heal - How Eating Local Foods Can Lead to a Sustainable and Healthier Community," featuring Michael McGreal, chef and culinary educator from Joliet Junior College.


Jerry Mills of Mills Apple Farm in Marine, IL, was the keynote speaker at the annual banquet last night. He spoke about "A Lifetime of Resource Conservation on Farm and Home - Doing it the Easy Way."
