IFB to Testify Today, Sharing Farmers’ Concerns about Over-Regulations

Today at 9:00am, Illinois Farm Bureau President Philip Nelson will testify before a subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee on Small Business in Washington, D.C. His testimony before the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Energy and Trade will focus on the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Pesticide General Permit.

Nelson also plans to address NPDES' needless duplication of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), the cost of implementing NPDES, the number of farmers affected by the policy and possible unintended consequences.

The subcommittee hearing is titled "Adrift in New Regulatory Burdens and Uncertainty: A Review of Proposed and Potential Regulations on Family Farmers." You can watch it live online on the House Committee on Small Business' website.
