For Illinois Farmers, Corn Dispute with Mexico Raises Concerns

In early February, Mexico announced plans to ban genetically modified corn for human consumption and eventually for animal feed. Farmer Jeff Kirwan, who represents District 3 on the Illinois Farm Bureau's board of directors, spoke with Lee Enterprises about the issue. 

"That could have a devastating impact on our export market," Kirwan told Lee Enterprises. Illinois is the second-largest producer of corn in the country, falling only behind Iowa.
