As it begins its 2nd century, IFB will remain strong by:

Valuing and engaging members and county Farm Bureaus

  • Show members that we value them
  • Discover members’ strengths and talents; use them to drive political and organizational involvement
  • Successfully implement PM membership category 

Prioritizing profitability and financial viability

  • Coordinate Farm Bill discussion according to member priorities
  • Advocate for trade and for competition in the marketplace, as well as tax, immigration and regulatory reform
  • Guard against government overreach
  • Promote Illinois’ livestock sector and maintain the integrity of LMFA
  • Advocate for a positive state business climate
  • Seek a fiscally responsible state budget including core agriculture programs and service

Leading on environmental issues

  • Involve members in meeting Illinois Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy goals and adhering to new CAFO rules
  • Promote environmental stewardship practices
  • Expand coalitions working on these issues

Reaching out to influencers

  • Build trust with consumers, lawmakers, regulators and other influencers
  • Support CFB outreach efforts
  • Enhance the public perception of farmers and agricultural practices
  • Encourage coordination and dialogue among commodity groups and ag partners

Managing resources

  • Practice prudent spending, sound investment, and aggressive membership recruiting
  • Create succession plans for key roles
  • Better align goal setting and budget processes
  • Strengthen and grow county Farm Bureau and IAA Foundations
