IFB, German American Chamber set direct food marketing trip

Trip to provide Illinois, German farmers opportunity to exchange ideas, review similarities and differences in food production.

Illinois Farm Bureau and the German American Chamber of Commerce are organizing a Germany farm trip focused on direct food marketing, according to Raghela Scavuzzo, IFB local foods program manager.

A delegation of 10 Illinois farmers will arrive in Munich April 7 and depart April 13. Applications are being accepted from interested farmers until Feb. 1.

IFB and the German American Chamber of Commerce have organized several farmer exchanges and roundtable discussions both in Illinois and Germany. The exchange program gives farmers an opportunity to see how another country addresses issues, to share ideas, and to see similarities and differences.

County Farm Bureau managers recently received information about the trip, applications and an agreement form.

Interested farmers should contact their county Farm Bureau manager or Scavuzzo. Completed forms should be sent to Raghela Scavuzzo, Governmental Affairs, 1701 Towanda Ave., Bloomington, IL 61701, or emailed to rscavuzzo@ilfb.org.
