Farmers are invited to the 2018 Local and Regional Food Conference next month in Bloomington. The event is hosted by the Illinois Farm Bureau (IFB) and is all about business technical assistance.
“It is not a production-based conference,” said IFB Local Foods Program Manager Raghela Scavuzzo. “This is about anybody that’s on a local business value chain.”
That would include farmers’ market vendors, food businesses and farmers. And it’s a chance to network and make connections for the future.

Another key component of the conference is utilizing technology. Other topics include marketing communication and finance.
“We have ag lenders come in and talk with you about how you do this,” Scavuzzo said. “We’ll talk about social venture capitalism and board structure.”
The event is Nov. 5-7 at the DoubleTree in Bloomington. You can register online at this link.
The conference also includes one-on-one, hourlong consulting sessions.
“We have bank lenders, graphic designers, coop consultants and small business plan consultants,” Scavuzzo said.
