Austin Omer, Ph.D., Illinois Farm Bureau associate director of natural resource policy, has been appointed to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Science Advisory Board.

“It’s a very good opportunity to provide agricultural scientific review to the EPA,” Omer told the IFB video department. “I look forward to working with this administration and assisting the administrator with whatever his requests may be.”

Omer was one of 47 individuals selected by EPA Administrator Michael Regan out of a pool of 352 candidates to serve on the Science Advisory Board.

“This highly qualified, diverse group of experts will ensure that EPA is receiving sound science-based advice to inform our work to protect people and the environment from pollution,” said Regan. “We worked expeditiously and deliberately to finalize the new Science Advisory Board, and now we can move forward knowing EPA’s work is guided by the most credible, independent expertise.”

Omer also serves on EPA’s Agricultural Sciences Committee, which he was selected for in 2020.
