Availability of propane remains an issue
Friday, November 20, 2009
Harvest delays created by steady rains this week did little to ease challenges associated with the distribution of propane. In fact, the additional delays could make things worse as farmers attempt to harvest and dry the rest of a wet corn crop, according to Chris Salrin, director of propane operations for GROWMARK. Salrin discussed the situation this week during a meeting with the Illinois Farm Bureau board in Bloomington. What were seeing is the pipeline simply cannot keep up with demand (for propane to dry grain) given the late harvest and high moisture (of the grain), Salrin said.
