Statement from the Illinois Farm Bureau Regarding President Donald Trump's Signature of the 2018 Farm Bill

The following is a statement from Illinois Farm Bureau (IFB) President Richard Guebert, Jr., regarding President Trump signing the 2018 farm bill.

"Illinois Farm Bureau applauds President Donald Trump for his signature on the historic, overwhelmingly bipartisan 2018 farm bill, which helps put Illinois farmers at ease as they enter the 2019 year. We also thank USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue for his continued work to support farmers and rural America with the implementation of this bill.

"The 2018 farm bill is a complete package that serves all Americans. The farm bill helps to ensure the food security and economic security of our nation. Directly or indirectly, it benefits everyone in towns large and small.

"This farm bill brings another five years of certainty to farm families; upholds fiscal responsibility by being budget neutral; improves risk management programs; protects crop insurance; funds much-needed trade development; invests in the future with funding for ag research and beginning farmer programs; and continues nutrition assistance for lower-income Americans."

The Illinois Farm Bureau is a member of the American Farm Bureau Federation, a national organization of farmers and ranchers. Founded in 1916, IFB is a non-profit, membership organization directed by farmers who join through their county Farm Bureau. IFB has a total membership of more than 394,742 and a voting membership of 78,999. IFB represents three out of four Illinois farmers.
