By Ashley Rice

Correy and Kellie Rahn of Chadwick won Illinois Farm Bureau’s Young Leader Achievement Award, while Joe Goodman of Xenia won the IFB Young Leader Excellence in Agriculture Award.

The winners will go on to represent Illinois in the 2021 American Farm Bureau Federation Young Farmers and Ranchers contest in January.

The Rahns farm in Carroll County, raising corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa, along with having a cow/calf and feeder cattle operation and hay business.

In addition, Kellie is a Pioneer sales representative for area farmers. Correy and Kellie also stay busy raising their four children, Austin, Emilie, Adalynn and Anthony.

The Rahns have been involved in Farm Bureau activities at local festivals and fairs, and have participated in farm-to-fork events.

Joe Goodman is an AgriEdge specialist for Syngenta and his wife, Larissa, is the agriculture coordinator for Clay County Farm Bureau (CCFB).

In 2013, CCFB reinstated its Young Leader group, and the Goodmans were two of the first members.

On the state level, Joe has participated in the Young Leader discussion meet, and last year, he and Larissa attended the Young Leader Ag Industry Tour. The Goodmans have one son, Rhett.

Runners-up include Chad Bell, Viola, Achievement Award and Jon and Erin Lower, Mount Carroll, Excellence Award.
