Pickup of IFB articles in other news publications update

Each week Illinois Farm Bureau shares articles that originate from within the organization with newspapers across the state. Stories are syndicated through a partnership with the Illinois Press Association (IPA), called the Ag News Service, and can be used by IPA member newspapers to supplement news coverage. Distributed content includes pieces from FarmWeek, Partners and IFB leaders, and aims to bolster coverage of ag-focused issues on mainstream channels.

From July 1-31, IFB articles were published in Illinois newspapers 79 times and reached and estimated 16.6 million people. The top feature by potential reach and syndication in July originated in FarmWeek and discussed specialty crops, particularly peaches, which are experiencing a shortage. Multiple articles distributed through the Ag News Service garnered high audience reach and syndication in July.

  1. “Weather swings impact specialty crops; peach shortage to linger” was picked up by 15 newspapers and reached around 4.6 million people.
  2. “Wine will continue to flow despite dry conditions” was picked up by 13 newspapers and reached around 1.76 million people.
  3. “Hog farmers plan to trim the fat amid market losses” was picked up by 12 newspapers and reached around 1.7 million people.
  4. “Drought limits corn height in many areas of Illinois” was picked up by seven newspapers and reached 3.6 million people.
