November Earned Media Trends Positively

As the year begins to wind down, there is no shortage of interview requests from news media outlets across Illinois. Illinois Farm Bureau routinely coordinates media coverage on a variety of topics, including inflation and Thanksgiving costs, in addition to monitoring mainstream channels.

From Nov. 1 to Nov. 30, IFB fielded 35 interview requests from print/online, radio broadcast and TV reporters, generating 255 news placements and potentially reaching 416.9 million people, which had an advertisement value equivalency (AVE) of around $3.85 million.

For comparison, IFB facilitated 26 media interviews in November 2021, which yielded 239 media placements and potentially reached 898.9 million, an estimated AVE of $8.31 million

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Interview requests and media exposure were slightly up for the month of November compared to the previous year, however potential reach and AVE were slightly down. This is largely due to the type of interviews, topics and themes, and channel or publication size. Still, IFB leaders joined dozens of reporters to talk about issues facing farmers, including Mississippi River water levels, challenges facing young farmers and Avian Influenza.
