From the President:

See below for a list of ways IFB has provided value to our members in January. I encourage you to use this as a tool to help recruit and retain members.

  • Illinois Farm Bureau leaders participated in the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Annual Meeting, where delegates adopted nearly a dozen new policies, including measures on food security, energy and climate change.

  • IFB partnered with the Illinois Specialty Growers Association and Illinois Farmers Market Association to host the Everything Local Conference, a one-stop shop for people involved in the state’s local food, specialty crop and farmers market supply chains.

  • A diverse list of speakers at the IFB Young Leader Conference helped prepare Illinois’ next generation of farmers to lead the industry into the future.

  • AFBF announced a memorandum of understanding with John Deere that gives farmers the right to repair their equipment.

  • IFB set its state and national legislative priorities. Raising the exemption level in the Illinois estate tax is among the priorities in Springfield, while passing a new farm bill tops the list in Washington, D.C.

  • AFBF joined 17 other organizations in filing a federal lawsuit questioning the legality of the final “waters of the United States,” or WOTUS, rule.
