From the President:

I spent the majority of this week in Washington D.C. attending the AFBF Council of Presidents meeting. This annual meeting allows all our State Farm Presidents to meet with various federal agency personnel and receive issue updates from AFBF staff. This year included a lot of focus on how we are continuing our efforts to pass a new Farm Bill. A new campaign entitled Farm Bill for America's Families will be launching soon and we will be providing more information on this effort.

We also spent time with USTR Undersecretary for Foreign Trade Alexis Taylor. I shared our frustration that the administration is not getting trade agreements completed and agriculture is at a disadvantage.

On the regulatory front we discussed next steps regarding the Prop 12 decision in California and the potential negative impact on all of agriculture. WOTUS continues to be on our radar as we await the Administrations new rule following our victory with the Supreme Court on the Sackett case.

I also was able to join our county leaders who were in town to meet with several of our Illinois Congressional delegation regarding our priority policy issues. The importance and effectiveness of having county Farm Bureau leadership speak directly to members of Congress is invaluable. Thank you to all of them for taking the time to make the trip happen.
