From the President:

See below for a list of ways IFB has provided value to our members in February. I encourage you to use this as a tool to help recruit and retain members.

  • Illinois Farm Bureau hosted its annual Governmental Affairs Leadership Conference, welcoming 550 people, including legislators. The event provides an opportunity for members to get updates on local, state and federal political issues; learn about ag and rural topics; and interact with their local and adopted legislators in a reception capping the conference.

  • IFB kicked off its Allies in Agriculture program for 2023, encouraging county Farm Bureau leaders to work with their local county government board to pass Pro-Agriculture Resolutions starting this month. Last year, the first year of the program, 15 counties passed resolutions.

  • IFB’s state legislative team began combing through the more than 6,500 total bills to be introduced in the General Assembly, evaluating them based on Farm Bureau policy.

  • The IFB Board approved intervening in Navigator’s re-filed Heartland Greenway carbon capture and storage pipeline project before the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC).  This will allow IFB to raise specific issues or questions with the ICC on the new application.
