Education and Work Experience (institution, major/minor): Bachelor’s in politics from Lake Forest College. Previously worked on staff for a state legislator and constitutional officer and for an association management firm in Chicago.
Family (including pets): My son, Colin who just turned 12. Mom (Mary), Dad (Monty) and younger sister (Ginny). My son is lobbying me for a Golden Retriever puppy!
Favorite Springfield Hangout: My role on our team doesn’t require me to be in Springfield much, so I’d have to say the drive-through of Starbucks!
Describe your perfect day: Union Pier, Michigan is my happy place. So, I’d go with a morning walk along the lake, followed by iced coffee and a bakery run, spending the day with my son at the beach and finishing with dinner, ice cream, and a board game.
What was your dream job in high school? Soap opera actress or political analyst on CNN
What movie can you quote from start to finish? The Devil Wears Prada or Clueless. So many classic lines from both.
Top artists on your Spotify list? I don’t have Spotify, but if I did it would be Linkin Park, Green Day and anything alternative from the 90s or 2000’s.
The best book I’ve read: I’ll go with my most recent favorite, You Could Make this Place Beautiful, a memoir by poet Maggie Smith.
Favorite sports team? Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors! We watch a lot of college hoops in our house… Marquette, Northwestern and of course the ILL-INI.
Best piece of advice you’ve been given? Be your own best advocate and your own hero.
Hero/Mentor? Lots of heroes come to mind. However, I’ll note I admire single parents doing the hard work of raising kids on their own. It can be incredibly rewarding but also tough and exhausting. The experience often doesn’t get the respect it deserves.

Favorite Part of Job: Building relationships between urban legislators and rural, downstate farmers through Illinois Farm Bureau’s Adopt-A-Legislator® program. I love seeing the education, understanding, and lasting friendships that come from this program.
Why Agriculture: My dad is a retired grain and livestock farmer. I grew up seeing him work hard every day to grow food and provide for his family. I have great respect for farmers and love being able to work on behalf of farm families.
