Pickup of IFB articles in other news publications update

Each week Illinois Farm Bureau shares articles that originate from within the organization with newspapers across the state. Stories are syndicated through a partnership with the Illinois Press Association (IPA), called the Ag News Service, and can be used by IPA member newspapers to supplement news coverage. Distributed content includes pieces from FarmWeek, Partners and IFB leaders, and aims to bolster coverage of ag-focused issues on mainstream channels.

From June 1-30, IFB articles were published in Illinois newspapers 69 times and reached and estimated 18.4 million people. The top feature by potential reach and syndication in June originated in FarmWeek and discussed ongoing drought conditions and how crops were handling the severe weather. Multiple articles distributed through the Ag News Service garnered high audience reach and syndication in June.

  1. “Drought continues to expand; crop conditions deteriorate” was picked up by 18 newspapers and reached around 4,007,550 people.
  2. “IFB President: Farmers prepare for another busy summer” was picked up by 11 newspapers and reached around 3,436,557 people.
  3. “Lock 25 expansion to improve barge traffic efficiency along Mississippi River” was picked up by nine newspapers and reached around 2,912,350 people.
